April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

  • Remember to park your phone while driving.
  • The average text takes your eyes off the road for nearly 5 seconds. When traveling at 55 mph, that’s enough time to cover the length of a football field.
  • Among the many driver distractions, texting is especially dangerous because it take your eyes , hands, and attention off the road.
  • Using a cell phone reduces brain activity associated with driving. Focus only on driving.
  • If you are in a car with a friend who’s driving and you see them texting, you can tell them to stop.
  • According to the Pew Research Center, 40% of American teens say they have been in a car when the driver used a cell phone in a way that put people in danger. FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS DRIVE DISTRACTED
  • NO CALL IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR LIFE! More than 3,000 distracted drivers crash and die every year.
  • Teenagers are 4 times more likely to die in a car crash than adults.
  • The radio, your cell phone, food, even your friends – these can all be distractions while you are driving. Keep you mind and eyes on the road when you are behind the wheel.
  • We want you here tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day. Don’t talk or text while driving.
