The Mendon Community School District is located in St. Joseph County in southwest Michigan. It is a small, rural district with approximately 700 students in preschool through 12th grade. The administration and teaching staff are committed to providing the best possible education for the students in a safe and secure environment.

The core curriculum provides students with a variety of learning experiences and a solid foundation for continued growth and development in college or the work force.

Mendon Community Schools serves the community of Mendon and portions of Leonidas, Centreville, and Three Rivers.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month


  • Remember to park your phone while driving.
  • The average text takes your eyes off the road for nearly 5 seconds. When traveling at 55 mph, that’s enough time to cover the length of a football field.
  • Among the many driver distractions, texting is especially dangerous because it take your eyes , hands, and attention off the road.
  • Using a cell phone reduces brain activity associated with driving. Focus only on driving.
  • If you are in a car with a friend who’s driving and you see them texting, you can tell them to stop.
  • According to the Pew Research Center, 40% of American teens say they have been in a car when the driver used a cell phone in a way that put people in danger. FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS DRIVE DISTRACTED
  • NO CALL IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR LIFE! More than 3,000 distracted drivers crash and die every year.
  • Teenagers are 4 times more likely to die in a car crash than adults.
  • The radio, your cell phone, food, even your friends – these can all be distractions while you are driving. Keep you mind and eyes on the road when you are behind the wheel.
  • We want you here tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day. Don’t talk or text while driving.
